Phuket

Well, we made it! After nearly 30 hours of planes, airports, and taxis, we arrived at our hotel in Phuket. The flights were looooong, the one from LAX to Seoul, South Korea was 13 straight hours. After watching 3 movies and failing at an attempt to sleep (it was the middle of the day) I walked t the back of the plane to do some exercises and stretch, trying to bring the feeling back to my butt and get the edema out of my lower legs. I opened a window, and we were over Alaska! That was the first time either Jamie or myself had ever been that close to or seen Alaska except for in pictures. It was absolutely beautiful, a sea of white mountains all around.

After landing in Seoul, we still had a 6 hour flight to Phuket. Thankfully by that time we were exhausted and slept nearly the entire time, except for waking up to eat a 2nd dinner (this day was full of 2nds) and a random piece of pizza at 5 am (or midnight?), not sure what that was about but it was good.

It was a 45 minute cab ride to our hotel on Kata Beach, being that the airprt was on the other end of the island. It was dark so all we could see were some store fronts and LOTS of people crusing around on scooters, yes this was around 1:30 am. Our cab driver had to swerve to miss a stray dog, apparently they're everywhere down here.

Our bodies pretty thrown off by the time change, we fell asleep pretty quickly after we got t the hotel even though it was something like 11 am back home. We awoke pretty early in the morning and after eating a yummy breakfast buffet, went out to explore the beach. We walked around Kata up and down- it is about a mile and a half long. Lots of beach vendors we'll have to hit up sometime soon. We came back and sat by the pool for a bit, letting the beachy breezes blow on us and alleviating the heat and humidity just a little. By this time it was about 3 pm here, which is 5 am back in Colorado! We were feeling bonked so went up to the hotel room for a little catnap, which turned into sleeping until it was getting dark. Then Jamie watched a movie while I faded in and out of consciousness. Reminded me of a ski patrol day. By the time I was awake and ready t go out, Jamie was on the verge of passing out, so we rigged up our mosquito net (quite a feat, let me tell you) and went back to bed. We woke up around 6 this morning and I think by that time I had slept arund 13 hours. Weird. I hope our bodies adjust t this soon! Definitely the weirdest time difference I have ever experienced. Right now it is 9 am here, and 11 pm back in CO. At least we have some time to get used to it!

Well, I hope you all are well. RV, if you are reading this, I hear you're leaving early. Jamie got your email, although I did not for some reason... but he tells me Dec 2nd? Bummer, we'll miss yu by 3 days. Well, good luck to you in Philly, and we hope to see you and Andy back out here sometime this winter. He does have that Abasin 4 pack now. =)

Love you all,

Liz and Jamie
